GLUTEX II

Rapidly Neutralizes Glutaraldehyde and Orth-Phthaladehyde (OPA)
for convenient drain disposal.

Fast: GLUTEX II™ completely neutralizes in 5 minutes. No overnight waiting to dispose of waste.

Easy: Add the recommended amount of GLUTEX II™ crystals to your disinfectant. A noticeable color change will occur during deactivation.

Economical: GLUTEX II™ converts Glutaraldehyde and Ortho-Phthaladehyde intoa non-toxic, pH-neutral compund in less than 5 minutes. It eliminates the perpetual liability associated with hazardous waste disposal. No more filling out and documenting hazardous waste manifests when you use GLUTEX II™.

Convenient: No need to use bulky storage containers or special equipment when you neutralize with GLUTEX II™.

Safe: GLUTEX II™ has no corrosive acids or unstable oxidizers. Heating is not required. This means that larger volumes of Glutaraldehyde and and Ortho-Phthaladehyde based products can safely be neutralized without dangerous heat build-up. GLUTEX II™ and the neutralized product that is formed are not harmful to active bacteria used in treating sewage and sewer sludge.

The use of Glutaraldehyde, Ortho-Phthaladehyde, and other high-level disinfectants should always be completed inside a fume hood or ductless fune hood to ensure your safety. Over-exposure to these and other chemicals may cause adverse health effects.

How do you neutralize glutaraldehyde? With Glutex II, it’s a simple three step process:

Step 1: Add the recommended amount of GLUTEX II™ for neutralization of your expired disinfectant. Step 2: Neutralization process takes only 5 minutes to complete. Step 3: Neutralization process is complete and ready for disposal.

Glutra-Mats™ are a very popular product for spill and vapor control, not only in the endoscopy area, but wherever glutaraldehyde-based disinfectants are being opened, used, or poured. This product is a glutaraldehyde-specific neutralizer and is completely dry, making it hydroscopic, so it can pull glutaraldehyde vapors from the air and neutralize them.

Directions for use:

Spill Control: Place Glutra-Mats™ around the edge of glutaraldehyde spill, preventing any further movement of spilled material. Cover entire spill with Glutra-Mats™, soaking up 100% of glutaraldehyde. This will be notable when spill does not continue to soak through the top layer of the most recently placed Glutra-Mat™. Leave Glutra-Mats™ on spill for approximately 15 minutes to ensure complete neutralization.

When neutralization takes place, mats may be removed from spill area. Follow your procedures for non-hazardous waste disposal. No more worry over how to dispose disinfectant waste!

Vapor Control: Place Glutra-Mats™ in strategic locations where glutaraldehyde is being used, poured or transported.

These areas include:

  • Underneath sterilization pans
  • Sterilization pan transport carts
  • Counter tops where glutaraldehyde
can possibly be dripped or spilled
  • Glutaraldehyde storage areas
