Safely Dispose of Glutaraldehyde and OPA
The ACDS-03 Neutralizer Station is a semi-automated system designed to neutralize used high-level disinfectants such as glutaraldehyde and Cidex OPA prior to discharge to drain. The ACDS-03 was designed for AirClean® Systems' line of ductless endoscopy workstations but may also be used with the CS Medical TD-100 Automted TEE Probe Disinfector.
- When used with the CS Medical TD-100, the ACDS-03 holds four complete cycles — approximately 4 gallons.
- Only 12.5” wide and easy to use. Simply switch on the unit and the display prompts you to add the neutralizer.
- Amount of neutralizer used will depend on the particular application.
- Uses Glutex II (catalog # ACX2200), a glycine based powder as the active neutralizing agent.

CALIFORNIA EPA:
The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (California EPA) has communicated that glutaraldehyde and OPA solutions may be hazardous waste, depending on their concentration at the time of disposal. The recent passage of Senate Bill #2035 allows medical facilities to treat and dispose of used glutaraldehyde and OPA without a permit, providing that:
- The waste is generated by a medical facility during the disinfection of medical devices,
- that it is treated at the site where it was generated; and
- that the sole active chemical of the neutralizing solution is glycine.
